
NNEDLearn 2023
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) invites National Network to Eliminate Disparities in Behavioral Health (NNED) members to participate in its thirteenth annual training opportunity for community-based organizations, NNEDLearn 2023. The goal of NNEDLearn is to develop members’ skills in evidence-supported and culturally appropriate mental illness and substance use prevention and treatment practices and to support practice implementation. NNEDLearn 2023 offers five training tracks:
- Achieving Whole Health: Balancing Mind, Body and Spirit (AWH)
- Familia Adelante: Multi-risk Reduction Behavioral Health Prevention for Latino Youth and Families (FA)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Preventing Long-term Anger and Aggression in Youth (PLAAY)
- Project Venture: Positive Youth Development for American Indian and Alaska Native Youth (PV)

What is the NNEDLearn model?
Recognizing that it takes more than a 3-day one-time training to implement new practices or programs, the full NNEDLearn training model consists of four critical components: Prepare (introductory webinars, other readiness activities); Learn (3-day virtual intensive training); Implement (follow-up virtual coaching sessions and related activities); and Sustain (efforts to sustain practice, through staff and funding supports, surveys on outcomes and impact).

What are the requirements for participation?
Organizations can propose three to five team members for participation, including one team leader. See the training tracks for more information on participant criteria
Due to the NNEDLearn 2023 training being fully virtual, accepted applicants must have access to stable internet service to participate in the NNEDLearn 2023 training.
Accepted teams will be required to submit a digital story by August 11, 2023. Learn about the NNEDLearn 2023 digital story.
