In order to highlight pockets of excellence across the country, the NNED selects a partner organization to highlight once a month. Communities In Schools of Richmond (CIS) has been selected as the NNED Partner of the Month for February in observance for Black History Month.

CIS mission is to form the nation’s largest and most effective organization dedicated to keeping kids in school. By bringing community resources inside public schools – where they are accessible, coordinated and accountable.

Some of the programs and services that are currently offered:

  • Counseling
  • Academic Assistance
  • Role Models

Partner of the Month – January

In order to highlight pockets of excellence across the country, the NNED selects a partner organization to highlight once a month. African American Health Program (AFHP) has been selected as the NNED Partner of the Month for January in observance for Mental Wellness Month.

AFHP mission is to eliminate health disparities and improve the number and quality of years of life for African Americans and people of African descent in Montgomery County, MD.

  • HIV/AIDS/STI
  • Cancer
  • Oral Health

Connecting the Dots: Unifying Service Silos to Promote a More Equitable System of Care  

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Office of Behavioral Health Equity (OBHE) invites you to join us for a webinar that will explore breaking down service silos to increase service access for people who use drugs and those seeking recovery, particularly in underserved populations. Researchers have been studying the overdose epidemic in New York State since 2017. They surveyed approximately 300 people from rural, urban, and suburban communities on the front lines. Among them are local officials, members of law enforcement, health and other service providers, and people who use drugs and their families. We invite you to hear from them and other experts about their experiences and efforts to bridge care gaps and eliminate barriers to services.
