The philosophy and implementation of harm reduction is a critical and effective approach to engage people who use drugs (PWUD), decrease risk of overdose and improve overall health and wellbeing. Harm reduction is not a new concept – these proven approaches have been used for decades to improve the health of PWUD as well as other areas of health and wellness, such as managing chronic health conditions like diabetes and depression.
This webinar will begin to explore how substance use disorder treatment providers can utilize harm reduction strategies to support PWUD and more effectively address and treat addiction. Participants will discuss the wide spectrum of harm reduction strategies that support the mantra of meeting people “where they are” with compassion and humility. Presenters will also provide specific skills and approaches to implement harm reduction strategies into existing practices.
