THRIVE Tribal Health Suicide Prevention & Anti bullying Materials
The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board announced the availability of free suicide prevention and anti-bullying materials from the THRIVE (Tribal Health: Reaching out InVolves Everyone) media campaign. Community is the Healer that Breaks the Silence (suicide prevention) materials and Stand Up, Stand Strong (bullying prevention) materials are available. The materials also include fact sheets and brochures on bullying and suicide prevention.
During 2010 THRIVE worked with a media company in addition to all of its Regional Native partners and NW Tribes to develop a Native-specific media campaign promoting suicide prevention and awareness. This campaign was funded by the Indian Health Service’s (IHS) Meth & Suicide Prevention Initiative grant. Please feel free to download, print, or pass on any of these materials to be used for various suicide prevention events, activities, or programs. With new funds from IHS, THRIVE has developed a youth bullying extension to the current suicide prevention media campaign. THRIVE will also be developing a substance abuse prevention media campaign focusing on culture, resilience, and traditional healing in early 2012 as well.
