Guidelines for Primary Care of Patients with HIV

The HIV Medicine Association and the Infectious Diseases Society of America have issued new primary care guidelines for the management of patients with HIV, MedPage Today reports. Published in Clinical Infectious Diseases , the guidelines—last updated in 2004—address HIV infection transmission, HIV diagnosis, risk screening, disease management and adherence to care plans. Among the changes, the guidelines increase the list of recommended diagnostic tests and suggest applying the medical home model approach to address the complex medical needs of patients with HIV.  Click here for more information.
