NNED Partner of the Month

Posted: July 01, 2014

In order to highlight pockets of excellence across the country the NNED selects an organization to highlight once a month. Pathways to Prosperity has been selected as the Partner of the month for July 2014.

Pathways to Prosperity is the product of a partnership between the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and the Northwest Area Foundation. The partnership began in 2003, when staff of the Foundation visited the Reservation to determine whether the Tribe had the will and the potential to launch a major effort to reduce poverty that afflicts more than one-third of their Tribal members.

The mission of the organization is to work together with all interested parties to reduce poverty within the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. The organization strives to build upon the inherent strength of individuals, and the community as a whole, to improve the sense of inclusion, economic strength, community infrastructure, educational attainment, health status, and cultural assets of their people, to prepare their community to thrive in a diverse, multicultural society.

A team from the organization attended the NNEDLearn 2013 training track -- Empowering our Spirits Tribal Suicide Prevention.
