Race, Equity, and Ethics: Questions on Child Welfare and Predictive Analytics

When

Wednesday, February 22, 2017 | 2:00 PM -- 3:30 PM EST

Description

Through an ongoing webinar series, the Alliance for Racial Equity in Child Welfare is exploring how child welfare systems are gearing up to use predictive analytics, how we might anticipate and mitigate algorithmic racial bias in its use, and promising approaches for equitable implementation.

In their next webinar, "Race, Equity, and Ethics: Questions on Child Welfare and Predictive Analytics," Dr. Jesse Russell from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD) will discuss the proven structural factors that bring families to the attention of child welfare agencies and how these factors should be considered when implementing predictive modeling tools. We'll deepen our dialogue by discussing how predictive analytics and machine learning can support systems' efforts to increase equity and use their resources for positive impact.
