Identifying & Lifting Barriers to Integrating Medication-Assisted Treatment with 12 Step Modalities

Thursday, May 25, 2017 | 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM EDT

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based treatment for individuals with a substance use disorder. Recovery models, such as the Comprehensive Opioid Response with Twelve Steps (COR-12) integrates MAT with a 12 Step-based program to promote recovery. This webinar will focus on best practices for implementing MAT and address financing, stigma, and training challenges. It will also  profile an organization that has had success in MAT implementation.

Participants will:

  • Increase their knowledge of MAT financing and explore MAT financing barriers in their area
  • Explore relationship between stigma of addiction and stigma of medications used to treat it
  • Learn strategies to help MAT patients interface with peer support programs, 12 Step fellowships, and other mutual aid groups
  • Explore tools to assess organizational readiness for MAT implementation
